Use this free Wyoming paycheck calculator to see your 2026 take-home pay from a salary or an hourly wage, in Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie or anywhere in the state. Wyoming has no state income tax, so it shows exactly what comes out of each paycheck: federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and your benefits, per paycheck and per year.
How Wyoming Paycheck Taxes Work: 2026 Guide
Updated for 2026. Wyoming has no state income tax and no local income tax, so your paycheck pays only federal income tax (standard deduction $16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly), Social Security on the first $184,500 of wages and Medicare. There is no state disability or paid leave deduction. Wyoming's own minimum wage is still $5.15 an hour, but the federal $7.25 applies to almost every job. Every figure on this page comes from the IRS, SSA or the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services.

How your Wyoming paycheck is calculated
Wyoming paychecks are simple because there is no state or city income tax to withhold. Your employer starts with your gross pay, removes pre-tax benefits, withholds federal taxes, takes any after-tax deductions and pays you the rest.
- Gross paySalary, or hours × rate, plus overtime, bonuses and tips
- Pre-tax deductions401(k), health premiums, HSA, FSA, commuter benefits
- Federal taxesFederal income tax, Social Security and Medicare
- After-tax deductionsRoth 401(k), union dues, garnishments
- Net payThe take-home amount paid to you
Wyoming has no state income tax: what is still taken out
| Deduction | 2026 rate | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Federal income tax | 10% to 37% by bracket | Taxable wages after the federal standard deduction, based on your W-4 |
| Social Security | 6.2% | Wages up to $184,500 |
| Medicare | 1.45%, plus 0.9% over $200,000 | All wages |
| Wyoming income tax | None | Wyoming has no personal income tax |
| State disability or paid leave tax | None | Wyoming has no such program |
| Local income tax | None | No Wyoming city or county taxes wages |
Wyoming has no personal income tax, and it does not tax wages, interest, dividends or retirement income. Unemployment insurance and workers' compensation are paid by employers only and never come out of your wages. Wyoming also has no state disability or paid family leave program.
How Wyoming collects taxes instead
Without an income tax, Wyoming relies heavily on severance taxes and royalties from coal, oil and natural gas, plus a 4% state sales tax (with local additions of up to about 2%; groceries are exempt) and property tax. So a Wyoming paycheck is bigger than in most states, and the trade-off at the register is smaller than in many other no-income-tax states.
Federal income tax brackets for 2026
Federal income tax is the only income tax on a Wyoming paycheck. These are the 2026 brackets set by the IRS:
| Rate | Single | Married filing jointly | Head of household |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10% | $0 to $12,400 | $0 to $24,800 | $0 to $17,700 |
| 12% | $12,400 to $50,400 | $24,800 to $100,800 | $17,700 to $67,450 |
| 22% | $50,400 to $105,700 | $100,800 to $211,400 | $67,450 to $105,700 |
| 24% | $105,700 to $201,775 | $211,400 to $403,550 | $105,700 to $201,750 |
| 32% | $201,775 to $256,225 | $403,550 to $512,450 | $201,750 to $256,200 |
| 35% | $256,225 to $640,600 | $512,450 to $768,700 | $256,200 to $640,600 |
| 37% | Over $640,600 | Over $768,700 | Over $640,600 |
The brackets apply to taxable income: your pay after pre-tax deductions and the standard deduction of $16,100 (single), $32,200 (married filing jointly) or $24,150 (head of household). A single filer earning $100,000 has $83,900 of taxable income and pays $13,170 in federal income tax, about 13.2% of gross pay. The Child Tax Credit of $2,200 per child under 17 lowers this further.
Social Security and Medicare on a Wyoming paycheck
- Social Security: 6.2% of wages up to $184,500 in 2026, a maximum of $11,439 a year (SSA). Once you pass the limit, it stops for the rest of the year.
- Medicare: 1.45% of all wages, with no limit. Employers withhold an extra 0.9% on wages above $200,000 in a year.
Together these are 7.65% of most paychecks, and your employer pays the same amount again on your behalf.

Live in Wyoming and work in a neighboring state? Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Nebraska tax wages earned there, so Wyoming residents who commute to Fort Collins, Billings or Idaho Falls pay that state's income tax. Wyoming has nothing to credit, so the full out-of-state tax applies. People who live in a neighboring state and work in Wyoming pay their home state's tax.
Paychecks in Cheyenne, Casper and Laramie
No Wyoming city or county taxes wages, so take-home pay is the same in Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie, Gillette, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Jackson and everywhere else in the state for the same salary and deductions.
How bonuses, overtime and tips are taxed in Wyoming
- Bonuses: Employers usually withhold a flat 22% federal income tax on bonuses (37% on bonus pay over $1 million in a year), plus Social Security and Medicare. There is no state tax on a Wyoming bonus. On a $100,000 salary you keep about $7,035 of a $10,000 bonus. See the bonus tax calculator.
- Overtime: Wyoming has no state overtime law, so the federal rule applies: 1.5 times your regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. There is no daily overtime. See the overtime calculator.
- Tips and the new federal deductions: For 2025 to 2028, qualified tips (up to $25,000) and the overtime premium (up to $12,500, or $25,000 for joint filers) can be deducted from federal taxable income. With no state income tax, this lowers the only income tax you pay. Social Security and Medicare still apply. Employers covered by federal law may pay tipped workers $2.13 an hour if tips bring them to at least $7.25.
How pre-tax deductions lower your Wyoming taxes
| Deduction | Federal income tax | Social Security and Medicare |
|---|---|---|
| Traditional 401(k), 403(b), 457 | Lowers | No change |
| Health, dental and vision premiums | Lowers | Lowers |

Salary or hourly pay in Wyoming
For hourly pay, multiply your rate by your weekly hours and by 52. A full-time year is 2,080 hours. Wyoming's state minimum wage is $5.15 an hour, one of the lowest in the country, but the federal minimum of $7.25 covers almost every employer, so $7.25 is the real floor (U.S. Department of Labor). A single full-time worker on $7.25 earns $15,080 a year and takes home about $13,926, and on $20 an hour about $35,606.
When you leave a job, Wyoming employers must pay your final wages within five working days.
Why your actual paycheck may differ from this estimate
- This calculator estimates your tax for the full year. Employers withhold federal tax using IRS withholding tables and your W-4, so each check can be a little higher or lower.
- Bonuses are often withheld at a flat 22% instead of your real rate.
- Social Security stops once your wages pass $184,500, so late-year paychecks of high earners are larger.
- Some benefits are taken only from certain paychecks, and in some years biweekly pay has 27 pay dates instead of 26.
How to increase your take-home pay in Wyoming
- Check your withholding with the IRS Tax Withholding Estimator and update your W-4 after a raise, a new job or a change in your family. Wyoming has no state withholding form.
- Use pre-tax benefits such as a 401(k), FSA, commuter benefits and an HSA, which is fully tax-free in Wyoming.
- If you earn tips or overtime, keep records so you can claim the federal tips and overtime deductions when you file.
How this calculator works
The calculator estimates your full-year federal tax and divides it by your pay periods. It uses the 2026 federal brackets, standard deduction and credits (Rev. Proc. 2025-32, including the 2025 tax law changes), the 2026 Social Security wage base and Medicare rates. Wyoming has no state or local income tax to add. For joint filers, enter combined household wages. Results are estimates, not tax advice.
