Important Disclaimer: Estimates of your full-year tax using IRS 2025 & 2026 brackets and standard deductions (including the 2025 tax law changes), the 2026 Social Security wage base of $184,500 and Medicare rates. Nevada has no state income tax, no state disability insurance and no local income tax on wages. Actual paycheck withholding can differ based on your W-4, flat-rate withholding on bonuses and other income. For Married Filing Jointly, enter combined household wages; Social Security is applied to the combined total, so it may be slightly overstated if both spouses earn near the wage base. For exact tax planning, consult a qualified tax professional.

How Nevada Paycheck Taxes Work: 2026 Guide

Updated for 2026. Nevada has no state income tax and no local income tax, so your paycheck pays only federal income tax (standard deduction $16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly), Social Security on the first $184,500 of wages and Medicare. The Nevada minimum wage is $12.00 an hour, and workers earning under $18 an hour get daily overtime after 8 hours. Every figure on this page comes from the IRS, SSA or the Nevada Labor Commissioner.

How your Nevada paycheck is calculated

Nevada paychecks are simple because there is no state or city income tax to withhold. Your employer starts with your gross pay, removes pre-tax benefits, withholds federal taxes, takes any after-tax deductions and pays you the rest.

  1. Gross paySalary, or hours × rate, plus overtime, bonuses and tips
  2. Pre-tax deductions401(k), health premiums, HSA, FSA, commuter benefits
  3. Federal taxesFederal income tax, Social Security and Medicare
  4. After-tax deductionsRoth 401(k), union dues, garnishments
  5. Net payThe take-home amount paid to you

State disability or paid leave taxNoneNevada has no such program
Local income taxNoneNo Nevada city or county taxes wages

Nevada has never had a personal income tax, and a 1989 amendment to the Nevada Constitution bans one. Nevada's payroll-based Modified Business Tax and unemployment insurance are paid by employers only and never come out of your wages. Nevada also has no state disability or paid family leave program, although employers with 50 or more workers must give about 40 hours of paid leave a year.

How Nevada collects taxes instead

Without an income tax, Nevada relies mainly on sales tax and on gaming and tourism. The state sales tax is 6.85%, and counties add their own, so Clark County (Las Vegas) is 8.375%. Businesses pay the Modified Business Tax on payroll and a commerce tax on large revenues. So a Nevada paycheck is bigger than in most states, but part of the saving goes on sales tax and, in Las Vegas and Reno, on housing.

Federal income tax brackets for 2026

Federal income tax is the only income tax on a Nevada paycheck. These are the 2026 brackets set by the IRS:

RateSingleMarried filing jointlyHead of household
10%$0 to $12,400$0 to $24,800$0 to $17,700
12%$12,400 to $50,400$24,800 to $100,800$17,700 to $67,450
22%$50,400 to $105,700$100,800 to $211,400$67,450 to $105,700
24%$105,700 to $201,775$211,400 to $403,550$105,700 to $201,750
32%$201,775 to $256,225$403,550 to $512,450$201,750 to $256,200
35%$256,225 to $640,600$512,450 to $768,700$256,200 to $640,600
37%Over $640,600Over $768,700Over $640,600

The brackets apply to taxable income: your pay after pre-tax deductions and the standard deduction of $16,100 (single), $32,200 (married filing jointly) or $24,150 (head of household). A single filer earning $100,000 has $83,900 of taxable income and pays $13,170 in federal income tax, about 13.2% of gross pay. The Child Tax Credit of $2,200 per child under 17 lowers this further.

Social Security and Medicare on a Nevada paycheck

  • Social Security: 6.2% of wages up to $184,500 in 2026, a maximum of $11,439 a year (SSA). Once you pass the limit, it stops for the rest of the year.
  • Medicare: 1.45% of all wages, with no limit. Employers withhold an extra 0.9% on wages above $200,000 in a year.

Together these are 7.65% of most paychecks, and your employer pays the same amount again on your behalf.

Moving from California? Once you become a Nevada resident and work in Nevada, California no longer taxes your wages. If you keep working for a California employer, California can still tax pay for work you physically do in California, so check before you change your withholding.

Paychecks in Las Vegas, Henderson and Reno

No Nevada city or county taxes wages, so take-home pay is the same in Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Reno, Sparks and everywhere else in the state for the same salary and deductions. What changes is pay levels, housing costs and the local sales tax. Use the calculator above for any Nevada city.

How bonuses, overtime and tips are taxed in Nevada

  • Bonuses: Employers usually withhold a flat 22% federal income tax on bonuses (37% on bonus pay over $1 million in a year), plus Social Security and Medicare. There is no state tax on a Nevada bonus. On a $100,000 salary you keep about $7,035 of a $10,000 bonus. See the bonus tax calculator.
  • Overtime: Nevada pays 1.5 times your regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. Workers earning less than $18 an hour also get overtime for hours over 8 in a 24-hour period, unless they agree to a four-day, 10-hour schedule. See the overtime calculator.
  • Tips and the new federal deductions: For 2025 to 2028, qualified tips (up to $25,000) and the overtime premium (up to $12,500, or $25,000 for joint filers) can be deducted from federal taxable income. With no state income tax, this lowers the only income tax you pay. Social Security and Medicare still apply.

Salary or hourly pay in Nevada

For hourly pay, multiply your rate by your weekly hours and by 52. A full-time year is 2,080 hours. The Nevada minimum wage is $12.00 an hour for all employers, or $24,960 a year full time (Nevada Labor Commissioner). Nevada does not allow a tip credit, so tipped workers get the full $12 plus tips. A single full-time worker on $12 an hour takes home about $22,165 a year, and on $18 an hour about $32,263.

If you are fired, Nevada employers must pay your final wages immediately. If you quit, they are due within 7 days or on the next regular payday, whichever comes first.

Why your actual paycheck may differ from this estimate

  • This calculator estimates your tax for the full year. Employers withhold federal tax using IRS withholding tables and your W-4, so each check can be a little higher or lower.
  • Bonuses are often withheld at a flat 22% instead of your real rate.
  • Social Security stops once your wages pass $184,500, so late-year paychecks of high earners are larger.
  • Some benefits are taken only from certain paychecks, and in some years biweekly pay has 27 pay dates instead of 26.

How to increase your take-home pay in Nevada

  • Check your withholding with the IRS Tax Withholding Estimator and update your W-4 after a raise, a new job or a change in your family. Nevada has no state withholding form.
  • Use pre-tax benefits such as a 401(k), FSA, commuter benefits and an HSA, which is fully tax-free in Nevada.
  • If you earn tips or overtime, keep records so you can claim the federal tips and overtime deductions when you file.

How this calculator works

The calculator estimates your full-year federal tax and divides it by your pay periods. It uses the 2026 federal brackets, standard deduction and credits (Rev. Proc. 2025-32, including the 2025 tax law changes), the 2026 Social Security wage base and Medicare rates. Nevada has no state or local income tax to add. For joint filers, enter combined household wages. Results are estimates, not tax advice.
