Important Disclaimer: Estimates of your full-year tax liability using IRS 2025 & 2026 brackets (including One Big Beautiful Bill Act changes) and Oklahoma income tax (0.25% to 4.75% in 2025; 0% to 4.5% in 2026 under HB 2764) on federal adjusted gross income less the Oklahoma standard deduction ($6,350 single, $9,350 head of household, $12,700 joint) or your itemized deductions and $1,000 exemptions for you, your spouse and each dependent. Oklahoma does not allow the federal tips and overtime deductions. Oklahoma credits such as the child tax credit and earned income credit are claimed on your return and are not included. Actual withholding can differ based on your W-4/OK-W-4 elections and other income. For Married Filing Jointly, enter combined household wages; Social Security is applied to the combined total, so it may be slightly overstated if both spouses earn near the wage base. For exact tax planning, consult a qualified tax professional.

How Oklahoma Paycheck Taxes Work: 2026 Guide

Updated for 2026. Oklahoma cut its top income tax rate to 4.5% and replaced its six brackets with four (0%, 2.5%, 3.5% and 4.5%) starting in 2026, under HB 2764. The first $3,750 of taxable income ($7,500 for joint filers) is now tax-free. There is no local income tax. Oklahoma did not adopt the federal tips and overtime deductions. The minimum wage is the federal $7.25. Every figure on this page comes from the Oklahoma Tax Commission's 2026 withholding tables, the IRS or SSA.

Oklahoma income tax brackets for 2026

HB 2764, passed in 2025, simplified Oklahoma's brackets and lowered the top rate from 4.75% to 4.5% from 2026 (overview; 2026 withholding tables):

RateSingle, married filing separatelyMarried filing jointly, head of household
0%Up to $3,750Up to $7,500
2.5%$3,750 to $4,900$7,500 to $9,800
3.5%$4,900 to $7,200$9,800 to $14,400
4.5%Over $7,200Over $14,400

In 2025 the rates ran from 0.25% to 4.75% in six steps. The law also lets the top rate fall further in future years, by 0.25 points at a time, when state revenue grows enough, with a long-term goal of ending the income tax.

Before the rates apply, Oklahoma subtracts a standard deduction of $6,350 for single filers, $9,350 for heads of household and $12,700 for married couples filing jointly (or your itemized deductions), and a $1,000 exemption for you, your spouse and each dependent. A single filer earning $100,000 has $92,650 of Oklahoma taxable income. The tax is $3,954.50, about 4% of gross pay.

Oklahoma starts from federal adjusted gross income, so traditional 401(k) contributions, health premiums, HSA and FSA contributions lower your Oklahoma tax too. Oklahoma does not allow the federal tips and overtime deductions; a 2026 bill for a state tips deduction did not pass.

Federal taxes on every Oklahoma paycheck

Federal income tax depends on your income, filing status and the choices on your W-4. For 2026 the brackets run from 10% to 37%, and the standard deduction is $16,100 for single filers, $32,200 for joint filers and $24,150 for heads of household (IRS).

  • Social Security: 6.2% of wages up to $184,500 in 2026, a maximum of $11,439 (SSA).
  • Medicare: 1.45% of all wages. Employers also withhold an extra 0.9% on wages above $200,000 in a year.

Oklahoma take-home pay compared with nearby states

On a $100,000 salary, a single filer keeps about $75,226 in Oklahoma, $79,180 in Texas, which has no income tax on wages, $75,510 in Missouri with no city tax and $75,048 in Colorado. Compare with our Texas, Missouri and Colorado paycheck calculators.

Paychecks in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Norman

No Oklahoma city or county taxes wages, so the same salary gives the same take-home pay in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, Broken Arrow, Edmond and everywhere else in the state. What differs is pay levels, living costs and local sales tax, which cities add to the 4.5% state rate.

How bonuses, overtime and tips are taxed in Oklahoma

  • Bonuses: Employers usually withhold a flat 22% federal tax on bonuses and Oklahoma tax at your normal rate, plus Social Security and Medicare. On a $100,000 salary you keep about $6,585 of a $10,000 bonus. See the bonus tax calculator.
  • Overtime: Oklahoma follows the federal rule: 1.5 times the regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. The federal overtime deduction lowers your federal tax for 2025 to 2028, but Oklahoma taxes all overtime. See the overtime calculator.
  • Tips: Tipped workers can be paid half the minimum wage in cash, $3.63 an hour, if tips bring them to $7.25. Tips are deductible from federal tax but fully taxed by Oklahoma.

Salary or hourly pay in Oklahoma

For hourly pay, multiply your rate by your weekly hours and by 52. A full-time year is 2,080 hours. Oklahoma's minimum wage matches the federal $7.25 an hour, or $15,080 a year full time (U.S. Department of Labor). A full-time worker on $7.25 an hour owes no federal income tax and about $133 of Oklahoma tax, and takes home about $13,793 a year.

When you leave a job, whether you quit or are let go, Oklahoma employers must pay your final wages by the next regular payday.

Why your actual paycheck may differ from this estimate

  • This calculator estimates your tax for the full year. Employers withhold using the Oklahoma withholding tables and your W-4 and OK-W-4, so each check can be a little higher or lower.
  • Oklahoma credits such as the child tax credit and earned income credit are claimed when you file, not through your paycheck.
  • If the top rate is cut again under HB 2764's revenue triggers, your withholding will change from the following January.
  • Social Security stops once your wages pass $184,500, so late-year paychecks of high earners are larger.

How to increase your take-home pay in Oklahoma

  • Check your federal withholding with the IRS Tax Withholding Estimator and update your W-4 and Oklahoma OK-W-4 after a raise, a new job or a change in your family.
  • Use pre-tax benefits such as a 401(k), HSA, FSA and commuter benefits. Each dollar saves federal tax and up to 4.5% Oklahoma tax.
  • Oklahoma lets you deduct contributions to an Oklahoma 529 plan, up to $10,000 ($20,000 joint) a year, when you file.

How this calculator works

The calculator estimates your full-year tax and divides it by your pay periods. It uses the 2026 federal brackets and standard deduction (Rev. Proc. 2025-32, including the 2025 tax law changes), the 2025 and 2026 Oklahoma brackets, the Oklahoma standard deduction and exemptions, and the 2026 Social Security wage base. For joint filers, enter combined household wages. Results are estimates, not tax advice.
